baby room-pt.1

37 weeks, 5 days
Bed rest routine is getting more ...routine.
I convinced the doctor that I can work in the morning and rest in the afternoon. Which means I actually go home and rest-instead of working at home all day and cleaning. B/P is getting a little lower, but not nearly enough to get me off of bed rest.

Steve has provided entertainment. Last week was prep the baby room. I got to lay there and watch him clean. He then prepped the room for painting and a couple of people from his Search and Rescue group came over to help him paint. He picked the colors, and was smart enough to ignore me when I was worried it would be too dark. He did a great job. Of course. He's the more artistic one, I should know to trust him on that stuff.

After painting, we're slowly but surely getting the "stuff" put in it and out of the living room. Steve got the crib put together last night.

Bed rest-almost one week

Two days short of one week. Still alive. Although there were a few days that it felt like just barely.
We've sort of come to a middle ground. As long as I'm sitting with my feet up in the morning, I will work and then come home and ACTUALLY bed rest all afternoon. Sneaking in 10 minute doing stuff breaks every two hours. Thursday the blood presure was 137/81. Not too awful.
We'll decide whether or not to tell the doctor about the plan on Monday based on what my B/P is.
Yesterday was gorgeous. 75+ degrees. Spent the afternoon with a silly page-turning novel in the hammock in the sun. Trying to get babies first tan!? Molly and Tanya were gracious enough to take Seasha on a dog walk with them. Threw some burgers on the grill. Spent an hour on the deck at dusk with Steve just enjoying the early season nice weather.

But, we're at 36 weeks now. 4 more weeks until baby-time. Time to get cracking on the baby-stuff.
Took all the fabulous soft goods we got at the two showers and that Mom sent-both hand made and from her generous co-workers and threw those in the wash. Today is another sunny, but not as warm day, so we could get the clothes hung out to get a little sunshine. Got a picture of the cute, tiny little items basking in the Oregon sunshine. (It isn't the greatest pic., i was too worried about the dog barking so early on a Sunday morning)

This is torture!

I've been sentenced to house arrest, or at least that's how it feels. "Modified bed-rest". I thought that was for people with pre-term labor or really scary conditions like placenta previa, etc. But no. Turns out when the genetic dice were rolled, I crapped out on blod pressure and now have pregnancy induced hypertension, which means they worry about pre-eclampsia. Me. That's right. The active, fit one, still swimming 3 miles a week, walking a ton, even snowboarding a few weeks ago. Turns out, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen.
I can still work if I sit with my feet up at home. I honestly think it will be better if I'm AT work. I'll be less tempted to do stuff. I'll plead my case next Monday. And do a lot of research of anything I can do to make this go away.
Of course with this sentence means they induce at due date, if not before (if it gets worse and I get more pre-eclampsyic). Think calm thoughts....
